Each day we will post a short blog: we will give an update on the events, activities and speakers, and share the experiences of the participants. Stay tuned for the latest updates.

The venue of the third day of the Future is Heritage Summit was the Jalta Boutique Hotel. We had a pretty busy schedule today. On the agenda: two sessions, an excursion and the European Award Ceremony.

Heritage & Inclusivity

During the session Heritage & Inclusivity, given by Jean Paul Corten international cooperation coordinator of the The Netherlands Cultural Heritage Agency, the participants represented different stakeholder groups and discussed various heritage potentials for making an inclusive city. What are the needs of these stakeholder groups and how does heritage accommodate those needs? The case study for the discussion was the city of Prague. The groups presented their solutions and ideas from the perspective of low and high income citizens, retailers, the quaternary sector, the local authority and the city council, resulting in a diverse collection of new ways to include heritage in the city of Prague.

Heritage & Personal Development

During the session of heritage & personal development, presented by Bert Ludwig and Marija Konjeviç from European Heritage Volunteers, the participants were divided in small groups and brainstormed about new project ideas for volunteering and training programmes at heritage sites.

Excursion to Theresienstadt

After the two sessions, we went to Theresienstad - about a short hour ride by bus. We received a guided tour through the Small Fortress and learned about the history of the fortification as a waystation in the Second World War.

European Heritage Awards Ceremony

When we returned to Prague, we were welcomed by Europa Nostra in the State Opera in Prague during the European Heritage Awards Ceremony. A spectacular and festive event which showcased beautiful examples of innovative heritage initiatives.

The Future is Heritage Summit 2022 is organised by FisH in cooperation and with the support of Europa Nostra, ESACH, The CLimate Heritage Network, The Climate Heritage Network Youth Forum, Erfgoed Gelderland, Erfgoed Brabant, Europeana and DutchCulture.
